- Spec's database_config is a oneOf on cluster type; both branches share connection_string, databases and credentials, so they are flattened into one form. username/password and auth_source are required for the Atlas branch, optional for self-managed. databases is an array in the spec (accept a comma-separated list in the form). CDC tuning knobs (discovery sample size, queue size, capture mode) skipped.

| Connection string | The connection string of the cluster to replicate. |
| Database names | The names of the MongoDB databases that contain the collections to replicate. |
| Username (optional) | The username used to access the database. Required for Atlas replica sets. |
| Password (optional) | The password associated with the username. Required for Atlas replica sets. |
| Authentication source (optional) | The authentication source where the user information is stored. |
